The Restriction of Hazardous Substances (RoHS) Directive applies to manufacturers, sellers, distributors, and recyclers of electrical and electronic equipment containing lead, mercury, cadmium, hexavalent chromium, polybrominated biphenyls or polybrominated diphenyl ethers.
The Waste of Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE) Directive aims to reduce the waste from electrical and electronic equipment and improve the environment.
After July 1, 2006 Member States of the European Union will ban the use of the previously mentioned substances in electrical and electronic equipment.
